Taxing thoughts

“Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesars” –Jesus

On this tax day with so much of our money going to things we don’t like such as abortion, and Bailouts for greedy banksers. It’s easy to forget that Jesus told people to pay taxes to a government that he knew would unjustly and inhumanely kill him and all but 1 of his disciples.

My New Calvinism Experience

Time recently rated “New Calvinsim” as the 3rd most influential force in the world today.

Ideas Changing the World Right Now

This is what New Calvinism has ment to me, and frankly it looks really old.

#1 The Gospel IS the most important thing period.
#2 The Gospel is the number one thing I must preach to myself everyday
#3 All Christian behavior is based on an argument of Gospel logic.
For instance “Husbands love your lives” Gospel connection “As Christ loved the church and gave himself up for it” “Gave himself up for it” is gospel.

#4 There IS hope for missions because it is God that Saves Sinners through the proclomation of the Gospel. The message of the cross is the power of God not the messenger.

#5 Wrath of God was absolutely, finally and forever satisfied at the cross for a certain group of people period. No and if’s or buts.

#6 Grace has become truly amazing. I mean everyday every hour marvelously mind blowing amazing. God saved me when I was his Enemy. “Once his enemy now seated at his table” And it’s because of the Cross that there was no mis-carriage of justice “In my place condemned he stood” I think this is primarily due to right thinking of Man’s Sinful condition and God’s Holiness. The greater the distance between the two the greater the love. “He who is forgiven little loves little.”

#7 An Almighty God is working everything out for my good and his ultimate glory.

#8 God does everything for his Glory.

#9 God is not glorified just by understanging him but in rejoicing in him. “The chief end of man is to glorify God by Enjoying him Forever”

#10 Satisfaction in God is the gift purchased for us on Calvary by Christ’s blood.

#11 The Cross is about God not about Man. The Cross was God’s vindication of his own justice and holiness that he might pardon the elect without reducing the worth of his glory.

In summary… The Gospel is Good news that God saves Sinners though the Death, Burial and, Resurrection of Jesus Christ. I need to hear this everyday.

Lord, You’re calling me to come
And behold the wondrous cross
To explore the depths of grace
That came to me at such a cost
Where Your boundless love
Conquered my boundless sin
And mercy’s arms were opened wide

My heart is filled with a thousand songs
Proclaiming the glories of Calvary
With every breath, Lord how I long
To sing of Jesus who died for me
Lord, take me deeper
Into the glories of Calvary

Sinners find eternal joy
In the triumph of Your wounds
By our Savior’s crimson flow
Holy wrath has been removed
And Your saints below
Join with your saints above
Rejoicing in the Risen Lamb

He Is Risen!

Most important thing!
Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures.

He was buried.
He was raised on the third day….
You believed.

See, what a morning, gloriously bright,
With the dawning of hope in Jerusalem;
Folded the grave-clothes, tomb filled with light,
As the angels announce, “Christ is risen!”
See God’s salvation plan,
Wrought in love, borne in pain, paid in sacrifice,
Fulfilled in Christ, the Man,
For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!

See Mary weeping, “Where is He laid?”
As in sorrow she turns from the empty tomb;
Hears a voice speaking, calling her name;
It’s the Master, the Lord raised to life again!
The voice that spans the years,
Speaking life, stirring hope, bringing peace to us,
Will sound till He appears,
For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!

One with the Father, Ancient of Days,
Through the Spirit who clothes faith with certainty.
Honor and blessing, glory and praise
To the King crowned with pow’r and authority!
And we are raised with Him,
Death is dead, love has won, Christ has conquered;
And we shall reign with Him,
For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!
